Retail Therapy Wins Over Socializing for Americans

The average American spends 42 minutes shopping each day, but only 35 minutes socializing.
That’s the latest result of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ annual “American Time Use Survey.” The survey is based on annual average data from the American Time Use Survey about how individuals age 15 and over spend their time.
It gets better on the weekends though. Although time spent buying things goes up to 50 minutes per day on weekends and holidays, Americans spend 62 minutes per day socializing.
As far as sports and volunteering goes? Forget about it. The average American spends 18 minutes per day participating in sports, exercise and recreation, and just 9 minutes per day volunteering.
