Hernando man jailed for shining laser at sheriff's copter pilot

A 23-year-old Spring Hill man faces a charge of illegal use of a laser light after he flashed a laser beam into the eyes of a Hernando County Sheriff's Office helicopter pilot who was flying overhead, according to deputies.

Louis Carmine Amalfitano, of 13321 Jay Court, was taken into custody on an active warrant Monday. He remained behind bars at the county jail Tuesday in lieu of $500 bail.
