Obama to meet with families of oil rig workers killed in Gulf explosion

(NECN/CNN) - It is now day 52 of the oil crisis in the Gulf of Mexico.

President Obama is meeting today with the family members of the 11 workers killed in the massive rig explosion that led to the leak -- while lawmakers on Capitol Hill hold more hearings on how to prevent this crisis from happening again.

Obama wrote to the families and invited them to visit the White House today. The White House says Obama would like to hear relatives' thoughts on how to better protect rig workers in the future.
