NEW EURASIAN COUNTRIES READY TO IMPLEMENT GOLD BACKED CURRENCY! WORLD IS SELLING US TREASURIES AND BUYING GOLD, US DOLLAR CRASH COMING

Gold & Metals Mining News
Peru declared an environmental emergency on Monday in 11 Amazon jungle districts where mercury pollution blamed on unregulated gold mining is poisoning people and fish.
Tests in the southeastern Madre de Dios region found “mercury pollution above the maximum permitted level, affecting river water, water species and local populations,” said a report announcing the decision in the official government gazette.
Environmental authorities detected high levels of mercury in local people’s bodies which “can cause serious, chronic and complex health problems, particularly in children and pregnant women,” it said.

Mercury poisoning can affect vital functions such as the nerves, digestive system, lungs and kidneys, according to the World Health Organization.
Monday’s report blamed the pollution on “unsuitable practices by illegal and unregulated mining during the extraction of gold.”

Role Of Ireland’s Central Bank In €7Billion Banking Fraud Revealed

Source: Your News Wire

It seems that the Central Bank were aware of fraudulent transactions at Irish Life and Permanent and Anglo Irish Bank.
Newly uncovered files have revealed that the €7 billion fraud that led to three bankers being criminally convicted earlier this month was “potentially based on encouragement” from Ireland’s Central Bank.
The state knew that the two banks were helping each other out
Tom Lyons reports via The Sunday Business Post :
The secret documents reveal how the state had intimate knowledge that the two banks were helping each other out during the financial crisis in order to make their balance sheets appear stronger to investors and the stock market.

The day before Anglo Irish Bank was nationalised in January 2009, Con Horan, the regulator’s then prudential director, told a high-powered meeting that his banking watchdog had an “awareness” that the bank was “working together” with Irish Life & Permanent, using what was called “back-to-back loans”.’
He then told senior Department of Finance, NTMA and Central Bank officials that this working relationship was “potentially based on encouragement from Dame Street”.
Horan said he was meeting the bank’s auditors to discuss the arrangement. He also explained how the circular transaction worked in January 2009 in order to use money from IL&P to boost Anglo’s customer deposits.
Horan was asked by Mary O’Dea, another senior official in the Central Bank, whether or not the €7 billion deal would have to be disclosed in Anglo’s accounts.
Horan said: “Auditors are comfortable… Current accounts will have lot more disclosures.”
On February 25, 2009 documents marked “secret” by the Financial Regulator also saw the state’s banking watchdog admit internally that Anglo and IL&P bankers might be able to argue that the €7 billion fraud was only carried out because of “encouragement”.
In a document prepared for its board, the regulator admitted: “There is also information available that might be argued to support a defence against accusations of market abuse, specifically in relation to knowledge within the Financial Regulator/Central Bank, but also more generally in relation to the role of the Department of Finance, Central Bank and Financial Regulator encouraging institutions to co-operate with each other in extremely difficult circumstances where the very existence of the Irish financial system was in some doubt.”
There is also evidence in notes kept of meetings of the Domestic Standing Group – made up of the Department of Finance, the Central Bank and the Financial Regulator – that the state was monitoring how Anglo and IL&P were working together in the months before the €7 billion fraud.
On June 10, 2008 a note of a DSG meeting involving Patrick Neary, the financial regulator, Horan, Kevin Cardiff, then assistant secretary of the Department of Finance, and Brian Halpin of the Central Bank shows that the state discussed Irish Life & Permanent’s balance sheet in detail just prior to its half-year results to the stock market.
The DSG notes say that the state knew that Anglo was putting several billion onto IL&P’s balance sheet just prior to its year-end in order to make IL&P’s financial position look stronger.
The notes say that in relation to IL&P it expected just before its reporting date in June 2008 to receive “2 billion from Anglo (maybe 3) – short-term”.
Neary states that any support “has to be commercial”.
Horan is also described as saying a senior IL&P executive had already been told to be “careful in use of language”.
The DSG then discusses replacing Gillian Bowler, a former travel agent, as chairperson of the stockmarket-listed IL&P.
“Changing chair is high risk,” the DSG noted before discussing the possibility of requesting David Went, the former chief executive of IL&P, to take on her job.
However, Paul O’Higgins (for the DPP) brought an application at an early stage in the trial to prevent any evidence about the Financial Regulator’s knowledge or otherwise of the fraud being put to the jury.
“Now, there’s no doubt about it, the regulator had a fair degree of knowledge what was going on here,” Judge Nolan concluded.
“He certainly had a fair degree of knowledge of the June transaction and I think from the conversations involving some of the employees of the regulator, they certainly had a knowledge of what had occurred in March . . . So, the regulator did know to a degree what was going on, but the regulator cannot condone criminal behaviour. It doesn’t give a defence to any party that they knew about it . . . ”
In comments to the jury, Judge Martin Nolan said that the origins of Irish Life & Permanent working with Anglo Irish Bank could be traced back to the Central Bank’s concern that IL&P was too reliant on funding from the European Central Bank and what would happen if this was disclosed to the stock market.
“Now, the ironic thing, if you want to call it that, it seems from the interview, from what everybody said, that Mr Casey was happy enough with his image before he met Mr (John) Hurley (the governor of the Central Bank) and Mr Hurley changed all of that. Mr Hurley wasn’t happy with his image.”

Austria: 'EU should gradually lift Russian sanctions'

Austria’s foreign minister has called for the EU to come to an agreement with Russia over the possible lifting of sanctions placed on the country following the war with Ukraine.
Speaking on the ORF on Sunday, foreign minister Sebastian Kurz said sanctions could be lifted in return for Russia implementing parts of the 12-point plan Minsk Protocol II agreed by both sides earlier this year.
"I believe that we should gradually come to a modus in which for every implementation of the Minsk Protocol, for every single step, sanctions will gradually be lifted in return," he said, suggesting it was time the EU found common ground with Russia.
The peace plan for the disputed region in eastern Ukraine has faltered this year, however, and the EU looks set next week to extend the economic sanctions it placed on Russia for another six months.
Kurz to discuss migration plan with EU colleagues
Kurz also confirmed that he will discuss his “action plan” on migration and asylum with his colleagues in other EU member states.
Writing on social media today, he said he was on his way to a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg where he will outline suggestions from himself, Austria's Defence Minister and Interior Minister on "a European solution to the migrant crisis".
Describing the migrant pressure from the African continent as “crazy”, he has defended his suggestion for a new asylum model in Europe, which takes inspiration from the Australian model of detaining asylum seekers on islands.
Meanwhile, the Austrian Chancellor Kern is talking in Vienna with the European Commission today over Austria’s refugee policy and the country’s role in helping Europe deal with large numbers of migrants and asylum seekers.
The EU announced measures last week to try and cope with the influx of people, including provided more support and funding to northern African countries and creating legal routes to Europe for migrants.
The UNHCR announced today - World Refugee Day - that there are now more displaced people in the world than there were in World War Two.
In total, they estimate by the end of last year there were a record 65.3 million refugees and internally displaced people.

America is in the opening stages of a massive surplus of over-credentialed workers.

by Charles Hugh-Smith
The only solution for the surplus of workers with law degrees is a massive, permanent reduction in the issuance of new law graduates.
America is in the opening stages of a massive surplus of over-credentialed workers. The default setting for 50 years has been: if you want a secure upper-middle class salary, get a law degree, MBA, PhD or other graduate-level professional degree.
The massive surplus is now apparent in J.D.s (law degrees) and PhDs. The writing is already on the wall: there aren’t enough jobs for law school graduates, and this scarcity of high-paying legal jobs will only increase going forward. These two articles provide the context:

An Expensive Law Degree, and No Place to Use It (via Joel M.)
The only solution for the surplus of workers with law degrees is a massive, permanent reduction in the issuance of new law graduates. The only way to achieve this result is for a significant percentage of law schools to close their doors.
What’s the percentage that must close to restore some balance? An unfettered market would discover the price of attending law school and the number of schools needed to fulfill diminishing demand for workers with law diplomas.
But we don’t have an unfettered market–we have a government-sanctioned system of debt-serfdom. Law students can borrow up to $200,000 for a three-year law program, and so surprise, surprise, the cost of that three-year program is–yup, $200,000.

This gargantuan state-supported debt-serf machine enabled prices to soar without regard to the value of the education, its utility in the marketplace or its market cost.

The glut in over-credentialed workers is not limited to law: The PhD Bubble Has Burst: Graduating ‘Doctors’ Are Having Trouble Finding Work (Zero Hedge).
As I have often noted, graduating 50,000 PhDs in chemistry annually does not automatically create 50,000 jobs for the graduates.
Our system of government-sanctioned debt-serfdom has created perverse incentives for colleges to raise prices and for students to become over-credentialed, a process that has enriched universities and their administrative legions while impoverishing students who are dumped into a job market saturated with over-credentialed but underskilled workers.
This reality is visible in the declining pay for all classes of workers, including the most highly educated:

It doesn’t have to be this way. Radically improving our higher education system while reducing the cost of that education by 90% is the topic of my books Get a Job, Build a Real Career and Defy a Bewildering Economy and The Nearly Free University and the Emerging Economy: The Revolution in Higher Education.
So how many law schools need to shut down to restore the balance of supply and demand? It depends on how fast technology reduces the demand for legal expertise. A 20% reduction in the number of law schools and law school graduates would be a good start, but if technology and outsourcing start eating jobs, the eventual number of law school closures might have to exceed 50%.
One quick way to discover price and demand would be to eliminate all student loans. Once students could not borrow money, the cost of higher education would collapse to a cash-value level. The number of colleges and universities would plummet, and supply and demand would soon find a new equilibrium, minus the debt-serfdom.

My new book is #5 on Kindle short reads -> politics and social science: Why Our Status Quo Failed and Is Beyond Reform ($3.95 Kindle ebook, $8.95 print edition) For more, please visit the book’s website.

Our status quo–the pyramid of wealth and power dominated by the few at the top–has failed and is beyond reform.
This failure is not rooted in superficial issues such as politics or governmental regulations; the failure is structural.
The very foundation of the status quo has rotted away, and brushing on another coat of reformist paint will not save our societal house from collapse.
Yet those who benefit from our status quo naturally deny it has failed, for the reason that it has yet to fail them personally—either pretending to not understand that all unsustainable systems eventually collapse, or hoping to postpone it.
Our status quo is not only failing to solve humanity’s six core problems–it has become the problem.
Since this failure is now inevitable, something is coming to replace it. We must each understand why our status quo has failed, and why the usual menu of reforms can’t stop this failure, so we can prepare ourselves for the radical transformations ahead.

Putin Suggests Cameron Actually Blackmailed EU

Russia’s Putin: why did Britain call Brexit referendum … Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday questioned why British Prime Minister David Cameron had called a referendum on Britain’s membership of the European Union.  “If it’s such a problem, why did he initiate this, if he is against it himself?” Putin said of Cameron at a meeting on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum. -Reuters
This was a good question that Putin asked, though it is not clear if this was the language he used.
The Economic Times has a long quote from Putin, as follows:
Meanwhile Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested British Prime Minister David Cameron had called the referendum to “blackmail” and “scare” Europe. “Why has he set up this referendum? To blackmail Europe? Or to scare it? What is the purpose if he himself is against”
The Economic Times states that Putin made this comment “Friday during a meeting with representatives of news agencies, including AFP.”
Reuters, as you can see in our initial excerpt, has much the same quote and identifies it as something Putin said “on the sidelines” on Friday.
If Reuters intentionally didn’t report Putin’s statement about “blackmail,” perhaps it was because it suggests a more Machiavellian – and even malicious – strategy.
Reuters purports to be an impartial news service but anyone who closely follows its reporting can find evidence that the news service is supportive of globalism.
Putin’s statement about “blackmail” raises questions that would be awkward for the British “Remain” faction to address or rebut.
We’ve already presented the strategy ourselves HERE. In a mid-March report entitled “Bank of England Intentionally Strangles UK Economy to Discourage Brexit,” we stated the following regarding the “REAL reason for the Brexit vote.”
It never made any sense to us that Cameron would call for such a vote. The answer may lie in the results of Cameron’s recently announced deal with the EU.
Under the deal, Britain received certain concessions to stay in the EU.  One was that Britain would not be part of an “ever closer union.”
More importantly from our perspective, further EU regulations will not be imposed on the City.  The City may exercise significant EU power behind the scenes, but this can’t be fully admitted for various reasons.
And thus the need for a formal show of negotiations leading to the exemptions that Cameron has generated.
And now that these have been negotiated, there is no further reason for London to pursue Brexit. The movement, once created, must now be halted.
Our suggestion was a polite one: We stated that Cameron’s call for a vote “never made any sense.”
Putin says it may be blackmail. No wonder Reuters might not have wished to report the quote.
More recently, we suggested that he EU – an invention of London’s City and Washington DC – needs to deepen into a political union.
We wrote about this HERE in an article entitled, “Is the Real Brexit Plan to Create a Closer European Union Without Britain?”
The idea is that a “Brexit” – a British exit from the EU – might cause an immediate deepening of ties. In other words, the remaining EU members would soon turn from a coalition of loosely linked nation-states into the longed-for (by some) United States of Europe.
Conclusion: It is possible that no matter what happens with Brexit, those of the internationalist camp will do their best to make the vote benefit and strengthen the EU. If Reuters intentionally avoided reporting on Putin’s statement regarding “blackmail,” that may be seen as an important signal regarding Cameron’s underlying motivation.
